Jon W. Martin, P.L.S. GIS Consultant
Very few civil engineering firms have their own department devoted to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Jon Martin oversees GIS and mapping technologies for Site Design, Inc. Jon has developed an internal GIS that is used daily by our civil engineers and land surveyors for schematic designs, stormwater master planning and land use master plans.
In addition to being a GIS professional, Jon has a background in graphic design and is a registered professional land surveyor. He specializes in field data collection applications and technology for GIS, bringing an innovative approach to problem solving and data collection.
Jon’s history with Site Design dates back to 2003 where he served as a party chief. In 2007 he went to work for a surveying company in Anderson, SC, and then left in 2010 to provide GIS and land surveying services for Seneca Light and Water, the utilities division for the City of Seneca. With the growth of geospatial technology, he rejoined Site Design in 2014 to create a department devoted to mapping services.
On a small farm near Williamston, SC, Jon and his wife, Alisha, are the proud parents of eight children: Ryvers, Ridge, Birch, Bramble, Adler, Beck, Junie and Ember. Big believers in food sustainability, the family grows its own fruits and vegetables and raises chickens and goats. Jon enjoys taking the kids mountain hiking and trout fishing. Quoting Theodore Hesburgh, Jon adds, “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.”
Jon holds an associate’s degree in geomatics technology and surveying from Greenville Technical College and studied graphic design at Anderson University.
