Craig Winnall, P.E. Senior Civil Engineer
As a senior civil engineer with more than 17 years of experience, Craig Winnall leads the infrastructure design for major projects including apartment complexes, shopping centers and large industrial projects at Site Design, Inc. With a diverse background in infrastructure design, geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing, Craig can handle the most complex and challenging design projects.
Craig is a true technical specialist. Some of his favorite site plans have been multi-family projects, such as Augusta Heights – a $7.7 million, 37-unit apartment community designed to blend into historic Augusta Road area of Greenville, SC. Another much-loved project was the $26.1 million, 242-unit Tapestry at Hollingsworth Park in Greenville. Adjacent to Legacy Park, the apartments offer contemporary amenities, such as a saltwater pool, outdoor kitchen, premier fitness studio and a Doggie Social Center.
Before joining Site Design in 2007, Craig was a project engineer with Freeland and Kauffman Inc., where his specialty was in big-box retail centers and quick service restaurants, from 2000 to 2007. Before that, he performed field inspections as a geotechnical engineer at QORE Property Sciences from 1997 to 2000, which has since become S&ME Inc.
When Craig is not developing site plans, he is reading Tom Clancy books or sharpening his skills in stock market investing or cross fit training. One of his favorite workout programs is P90X, known for its high level of intensity. He and his wife, Kerry, have two boys, Zack and Jake. Craig has the “gift of eloquence,” or so the legend goes by kissing the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle in Ireland.
Craig earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Central Florida.
